Terms of Service
Last updated: September 22, 2026
1. Agreement
By creating an account or using Fixie ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. What Fixie Does
Fixie is a DIY building assistant. You pick a project, customize the dimensions and materials, and the app generates an instant cut list, materials list, 3D preview, and step-by-step instructions. You can also describe or photograph a piece you want, and Fixie will design it for you and turn it into the same kind of buildable plan. We also provide affiliate links so you can order required materials in one tap.
3. Your Account
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up. You can close your account at any time from the in-app profile screen. Closing it disables sign-in and clears your profile name, but does not automatically delete your projects, designs, briefs, reference photos, build progress, or other saved content. See Sections 5 and 16 and our Privacy Policy for how that content is retained and how to request its deletion.
Closing your Fixie account does not cancel an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple or another billing provider. The purchase screen shows the price, billing period, and any introductory offer before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew at the displayed terms until canceled with the provider. For Apple purchases, manage or cancel in your Apple Account subscription settings. Billing continues until cancellation takes effect, and closing your account may end your access to Fixie while the subscription remains active.
4. Acceptable Use
• Don't use the Service to violate any law or regulation
• Don't impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities
• Don't scrape, copy, or redistribute project content for commercial purposes without our written permission
• Only upload photos you have the right to share, and don't upload photos of people without their agreement
• Don't submit briefs, photos, or messages that are unlawful, hateful, sexual, or designed to produce something dangerous
• Don't ask Fixie to design something whose purpose is to harm someone
5. Your Content
"Your content" means what you send us: photos, notes, project customizations, the briefs you write when you ask Fixie to design something, your answers to its questions, and the feedback you send. You keep ownership of it.
By submitting it, you grant Fixie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, process, reproduce, and adapt it in order to run the Service, to improve it — including training and evaluating the models Fixie uses — and to promote Fixie, including showing your photos and the designs made from them in marketing. You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload. If you don't, or if a photo includes someone who hasn't agreed to it, don't upload it; we remove content we're told infringes someone's rights.
We retain your submitted content and the projects, progress, and designs made from it after you delete a design or close your account. We use that material to operate and improve Fixie, including training and evaluating the models Fixie uses. Closing your account alone does not withdraw this license or delete that content. You can request deletion by writing to support@fixie.help; we will remove eligible content and explain if any records must remain for legal, accounting, safety, or security reasons.
6. Designs Fixie Generates For You
When you ask Fixie to design something, the design it produces — the plan, the cut list, the 3D model, the instructions, and the images — belongs to Fixie. What you get is a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free right to use it: build it as many times as you like, for yourself or for someone else, change it, and sell what you build. That right stays yours even if you stop using Fixie.
We may also publish a design you asked for as a regular Fixie project that anyone can browse and build, with or without naming you. If we have published one of yours and you'd rather we didn't, write to support@fixie.help and we'll take it out of the catalog — including after you close your account. We can't recall copies people have already built or saved.
7. Reporting a Design
Designs are generated by a machine and are not reviewed by a person before you see them. If one looks wrong, unsafe, or offensive, report it from the design itself or write to support@fixie.help. Telling us "this would collapse" is the most useful thing you can send us. We screen submissions and may refuse a request or remove a design.
8. Sharing a Design
When you share a design, Fixie creates a public page for it at a fixie.help link. The page shows the design's title, summary, dimensions, 3D model, tools, materials, cut list, and build steps. It does not show your name, your email address, your reference photos, or the brief itself, but the design and its steps were written from your brief, so leave out anything personal you would not want on a public page.
A shared design is public. Anyone with the link can see it, we may show it elsewhere on fixie.help, and we may let search engines such as Google index it so it can appear in search results. By sharing a design, you agree to this.
If you delete the design or close your account, the page stops showing the design and tells search engines it is gone. You can also write to support@fixie.help to have a shared link taken down. Search results and copies other people have already saved can take time to disappear, and we cannot recall them. We may also hide or remove any shared page, for example if it breaks these Terms.
9. Purchases and Subscriptions
Catalog projects are free. Some features, such as additional custom designs and changes to a design, are paid. You buy them in the app through Apple, and the purchase screen shows what you get, the price, and, for a subscription, the billing period before you pay. Free offers, such as a free first design, may change or end at any time.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the price and period shown until you cancel. Cancel in your Apple Account subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. There is no free trial. Design credits included with a subscription can be used while it is active and end when the subscription ends. Credits you buy one at a time do not expire before you use them.
Ending a subscription never takes away a design you have already received; your right to use it (Section 6) stays yours. If a design has a confirmed error on our side, we correct it without using a credit. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; request a refund through Apple. If a purchase is refunded, the credits it granted that you have not used yet are removed. Closing your Fixie account does not cancel a subscription (Section 3).
10. Affiliate Disclosure
Fixie participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate program. The "buy materials" links in the app may direct you to Amazon. If you complete a purchase after clicking a Fixie affiliate link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The recommendations themselves aren't influenced by commission rates — we surface what fits your project. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
11. AI-Generated Content
Fixie uses AI to generate cut lists, materials lists, build instructions, assistant replies, and the designs it makes from your brief. We work hard to make these accurate, but AI can be wrong, and a generated design has not been checked by a person or a structural engineer. Always double-check measurements before cutting wood, verify part lists before purchasing, and use your own judgment for any step that involves a power tool, ladder, or anything that can hurt you.
12. DIY Safety
Building projects involves real risk — power tools, sharp blades, heavy materials, ladders, and chemical finishes can all cause injury. Fixie is an educational guide, not a substitute for professional skill or supervision. Wear appropriate PPE, follow tool manufacturer instructions, and consult a qualified professional for anything beyond your experience level. You build at your own risk.
13. Intellectual Property
The Fixie name, logo, project plans, illustrations, and software are the property of Fixie. You may use them only as needed to use the Service for your own personal projects.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Project plans, cut lists, and instructions are guidance, not guarantees.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fixie and its directors, employees, and partners are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of the Service. This includes injury or property damage from following instructions in the app.
16. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us or other users. You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time as described in Section 3. Closing your account does not automatically delete saved content or cancel an auto-renewing subscription.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms over time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes go into effect means you accept the revised Terms.
